Destiny 2 Players Can't Use Sparrow on New DLC Area

Destiny 2 Players Can't Use Sparrow on New DLC Area

The launch of Destiny 2‘s first expansion is just around the corner and, as players gear up to return to Bungie’s MMO-inspired shooter once more, new information has surfaced regarding the upcoming content’s new planet destination. As previously revealed, Guardians will be heading to Mercury in Destiny 2 this time round, but the destination is smaller than expected and will not allow players to use the game’s iconic Sparrows for transportation.

Just like before completing the Destiny 2 storyline for the first time, Sparrow access will be entirely restricted in the new Fields of Glass location. Mercury as a destination looks to be a rather small, circular area which features high-value target enemies that can be fought, but players will have to traverse the planet on foot in order to do so. This time around, disabling the player’s Sparrow might be an effort to disguise how small the new environment is, rather than as a way of preventing players from rushing through the story.

According to a hands-on experience with the Curse of Osiris DLC, GameSpot revealed that the theme behind the new expansion is ‘mystery’ and that there are a lot of well-kept secrets hidden in the Fields of Glass. After getting a little time to explore the upcoming DLC, it became clear that the new Strikes coming as part of the update are essentially two of the expansion’s story missions made playable once again, without too much variety in level design between each version.

Something that does look promising, however, is the addition of the Infinite Forest, a Vex creation that has the power to simulate an infinite number of realities. So far, the concept of the forest is rather intriguing, and what looks to be a procedurally-generated landscape will allow players to experience all kinds of enemies within, but we’re not sure just how big a role the area will see when the Curse of Osiris finally launches.

Right now, Destiny 2 players are still a little concerned about how beneficial to the fan-base the upcoming expansion is going to be, due to Bungie’s claim that the Curse of Osiris would be rewarding. After watching a fireteam completing the content pack’s newest public event to receive minimal loot, the game’s community was rather disappointed at how little the developer seems to be listening to their requests.

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The Curse of Osiris expansion releases December 5, 2017 across all available platforms.
