Destiny 2 Director to Address Community Feedback

Destiny 2 Director to Address Community Feedback

Today, Destiny 2 Director Luke Smith put out some important news on social media for players of the online multiplayer shooter. With the Curse of Osiris expansion less than two weeks away from launch and the game’s community frustrated, Smith and his team plan to address feedback and how Destiny 2 will improve next month.

Luke Smith’s message on Twitter reads that he and Project Lead Mark Noseworthy will be “answering some questions and addressing community feedback” next week. It’s unclear whether or not Luke means that this Q&A will take place during the announced Curse of Osiris livestream on November 28 or separately. It’s also surprising that Smith is making this announcement on Twitter, rather than through official PR channels. More than likely Smith doesn’t intend the Q&A to be a big deal, though Destiny 2‘s community will likely see it as such.

Responses to Smith’s tweets have been diverse, with some players on Reddit saying that this is a “make or break” moment for Destiny 2. Others argue to manage expectations, as Destiny before Destiny 2 has shown just how much Bungie can change between launch as first expansion.

Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris DLC story mission Strikes

Not only did Smith reveal plans to discuss community feedback, but he will also detail upcoming changes to Destiny 2‘s economy, rewards, gameplay and more coming as part of a big December update. Again, it’s unclear how this December update relates to the release of Curse of Osiris, but one would imagine the two are tied together. But by noting the update here, Smith makes clear that Bungie will be addressing player feedback both with words and tangible game changes.

Much of the controversy regarding Destiny 2 has stemmed from the lack of communication from Bungie and the lack of updates on the current state of the game. Historically, fans have proven more than willing to forgive and forget from expansion to expansion, so long as Bungie delivers. Perhaps Bungie has been waiting to show what they’ve been working on, rather than just talking about it. But perhaps they’ve waited too long.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Destiny 2‘s first major expansion, Curse of Osiris, launches across all platforms on December 5.
