Destiny 2 Brings Back Heroic Strike Playlist

Destiny 2 Brings Back Heroic Strike Playlist

During the first Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris DLC livestream, Bungie detailed plenty of upcoming content from the game, such as the Leviathan raid lair. And one of the biggest announcements from the event was the return of a fan favorite feature from Destiny 1.

Bungie has now confirmed that the Heroic Strike Playlist will be making a return in Destiny 2. Entering the playlist will select a random strike from Destiny 2 or the Curse of Osiris DLC.

It offers rewards of rare and legendary gear and players can also participate in Heroic Strikes in order to complete the ‘Weekly Heroic Strike’ milestone. The recommended Power level for the Heroic Strike Playlist is 270+, meaning that it’s more of a challenge than Destiny 2‘s standard Nightfall Strikes but not quite as challenging as a Prestige Nightfall.

As there is only one Nightfall Strike each week, Heroic Strikes offer far more variety. It should also allow players to collect much more powerful gear (without taking on the Prestige Nightfall), as there is only so much a player can increase their Power level by grinding through the standard Nightfall or the standard Strikes.

Many longstanding Destiny fans are delighted to see Heroic Strike Playlists return for Destiny 2. In the first game, Heroic Strikes provided a substantial challenge and really let players put their skills to the test, say many. Some have also noted the way that Heroic Strikes in the original game really made them feel ‘powerful.’

However, some Destiny 2 players are holding back, waiting to hear more until they start voicing their enthusiasm. Bungie didn’t reveal much about the return of the Heroic Strike Playlist and fans are curious to know if it will offer modifiers like the Heroic Strikes of Destiny 1. The screenshot makes no mention of them, but a lack of modifiers could be a dealbreaker for some players.

If Bungie is withholding modifiers from the new Heroic Strike Playlist, then it’s somewhat understandable. The developer has had a lot of trouble with Strike modifiers since Destiny 2 launched in September. For example, one Prestige Nightfall Strike bug prevented players from completing the activity. Fans were frustrated and the developer was under immense pressure to fix it and get it working quickly. Bungie may want to avoid that by keeping modifiers out of Destiny 2‘s Heroic Strikes.

Bungie will hold the next Curse of Osiris livestream next week and this may offer more information about Heroic Strikes. Hopefully, it will also offer some clarification about modifiers and if (or why) they’ve been left out.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
